American Girl Next Door

Summertime is smoldering here in the south where beating the heat vs looking fresh are at a constant stand off. Keeping with the aesthetic of my earlier post Steal His Style, this is a more feminine way to go in the casual menswear direction. My button up short sleeved shirt is unisex, from american apparel and its tucked into high waisted, black ,distressed, denim shorts, that flatter my legs. My favorite studded boots always give me that edge and flash I love. Add a bow a la Cult Gaia for extra flirty fun. Overall this is a effortless look that’s still on point for more casual outings.

Nude and Neon

top: aa | skirt: bar III | bag & necklace: blacktop junkies | shoes: ralph lauren

I’m rarely afraid to be too loud with my clothing but this neon trend [ which I love] can be a bit overwhelming. I love this pairing of subtle neon pops with a neutral home base. The colors and crop top are young and fun while the skirt length and shoes keep the classy feel to this look.

ps. I adore this clutch and necklace from BlackTop Junkies located on West Gray in Houston TX. More to come from them in the future!

Dark Paradise

Summer is just around the corner filled with neon brights, Jelly heels and short shorts! But we can’t discount the dark summer trend that has carried through from winter months. Don’t believe me? Check out Nasty Gal’s “How To Be  A  Summer Goth” posted May 14 2014 .

So how do I do it? With a cut-out, short sleeved dress, open toed heels with zippered details [for extra gothic badassery] and dark red lipstick.

Pastel Palate Weekend

It’s spring time (!!!) and whether the weather agrees or not I want to wear pastels with pretty frills. The oversized denim shirt takes the outfit, complete with statement jewelry, in a more casual direction. Grab some coffee, illy, and I’m ready to be productive!

Vintage/ Antique Shopping

While personal style changes subtly as we get older and as the fashion seasons pass us by another big influence in our personal aesthetic is our location. Moving to Houston a year ago you would think by now my closet would be filled with cowboy boots and flowery dresses. It’s not. Houston, TX is very metropolitan actually and I have yet to pull out the cowboy boots I toted all the way from West Palm Beach, Florida.

On overcast days I like to wear darker colors and flat comfy shoes if I’m walking around hitting up some antique/vintage shops : T-shirt: Diesel | Leather Skirt: vintage find | Shoes: Converse | Bag: Coccinella
