Weekend Picks

1. It’s the last month of summer! Time to breakout the minty make-up trend if you haven’t already and release your inner mermaid. From polish to eyeliner there’s lots of ways you can incorporate this hue this weekend.

2. I don’t know about you but when I get home from the farmer’s markets, Saturday or Sunday morning, I love washing the fruits and veggies only because I get to store them in these adorable containers from Anthropology.

3. Brunch on a stick? I want to do this every weekend! Saw the creation on Pinterest and doing it tomorrow… soon to figure out mimosas on a stick. [Image via TheChicSite.com they have other amazing recipes too!]

4. Low back maxi’s, even mini’s. Backs have never looked hotter and I’m digging this simple one from Planet Blue.

Summertime is smoldering here in the south where beating the heat vs looking fresh are at a constant stand off. Keeping with the aesthetic of my earlier post Steal His Style, this is a more feminine way to go in the casual menswear direction. My button up short sleeved shirt is unisex, from american apparel and its tucked into high waisted, black ,distressed, denim shorts, that flatter my legs. My favorite studded boots always give me that edge and flash I love. Add a bow a la Cult Gaia for extra flirty fun. Overall this is a effortless look that’s still on point for more casual outings.

White Washed Stable House

Transformed from an old horse stable into a charming country residence in Alcácer do Sal, in the Alentejo region of Portugal.  Architectural firm Atelier Data are the masterminds behind transforming this rural building to a contemporary  private residence. The stable was stripped clean, preserving only the beautiful sloped wooden ceiling and exposed beams.  Contrasting the original wood the walls were painted white creating a bright and fresh feel.  Decor and furnishings were kept minimal and linear, also designed custom by the firm Atelier Data.

Chili & Lime Mango on a Stick

Tropical temperatures of summer call for tropical treats and outdoor festivities. Taking inspiration from the south this easy and fun-to-eat mango treat will please just about any age range, and it’s good for you too! Mangos provide many health benefits including lower cholesterol, eye health and clear skin [see 10 Health Benefits of Mangos] . I recently discovered this mango on a stick snack at a local outdoor market. Adding a little spice to the typical sliced mango routine the receipe calls for chili powder, lime and salt. I used Pink Himalayan salt in instead of table salt because the Pink Himalayan salt doesn’t contain any additives or chemicals and provides the body with many minerals lost though out the day, especial in the summer heat. [ see more on Pink Himalayan Salt Benefits]

Enjoy!

Summer is just around the corner filled with neon brights, Jelly heels and short shorts! But we can’t discount the dark summer trend that has carried through from winter months. Don’t believe me? Check out Nasty Gal’s “How To Be  A  Summer Goth” posted May 14 2014 .

So how do I do it? With a cut-out, short sleeved dress, open toed heels with zippered details [for extra gothic badassery] and dark red lipstick.
